    Tech frustration

My collection of old, crappy computers is unmanageable. Do to age, compatibility issues, old software, etc., one computer for graphics won't go on internet, one computer for internet has dead USB so can't thumbdrive transfer t-shirt art .gif files to put on photobucket, which really seems to suck these days, anyway. Neither of these computers can operate large format laser printer to do t-shirt positives. I need compatible hardware and software. AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

No help from me qwerty cause I am about as computer illiterate as can be. I do feel your pain and have been there many times. Good luck.

I am about as computer literate as Gary. My brother on the other hand is an IT specialist. My laptop is a good 8 years old and should be pooped by now. It originally came with Windows Vista and I had nothing but problems with it in the beginning. My brother convinced me to let him install a Linux operating system. My old computer works as good today as it did when I first got it although I don't ask very much from it and I am constantly updating it.
I also feel your pain. Good luck with it.

Vista sucks. 30 minutes to boot? Insane!

Problem is my large format printer is 20 years old and drivers are not available for anything newer than Windows 98, so everything has to be converted from Corel X6 running on a new computer with Windows 7 to Corel 7, which is the newest version I have that runs on W98, which I can then print, but I'm having hardware failures that keep me from being able to move files from one computer to another. Yes, it's time to throw some $$$$ at the problem, but that is hard to justify since I don't do graphics for a living anymore.

Anyone have a deal on a laser that will print tabloid (11 x 17). That's what I really need.

Got tired of worrying, so just ordered a new computer (Intel Dual Core 2.8, 4 megs, 1.5TB, 64-bit Windows 8) and a new copy of Corel X7, specifically designed for the OS. Still hunting up a monochrome laser with Post Script (necessary for printing half-tone positives) capable of handling 11x17 vellum. Any of you technogeniuses have suggestions? Looks like the cheapest is about $600.

Take a look at Dell's refurbished units. I've purchased serveral over the last 20 years and never had a problem.
