Great stuff! I thought I was the only one with a 1990 green machine but now I have a partner.

She was standing in a shed on a farm for the most part of 20 years, when I started cleaning up the fuel tank was rusted inside and carb was clogged-up and there was a layer of dust and mud all over the bike.
I bought a new battery, spark-plug and oil filter, took the carb off to thoroughly clean all the jets and grime and handed the fuel tank in to get the rust treated.
Just some minor work and modifications left to be done, but she's running beautifully already

Be careful with that trunk I had the same one on my GS I thought it was mounted good. Tried tugging and pulling and it never felt loose. Then one day in the Catskills I stopped to get my camera and the trunk was GONE! Mounting plate was still there. No wear marks or broken pieces. After that I did a google search and found similar stories. Shame cuz I really liked that trunk, too. P.S. Congrats on the new ride.

Thanks on the trunk advice. I had heard about it before. I got the same trunk on my KLR and also on my son's KLR without problems. I do think that if not careful, that when one tries to 'snap' it down in place, that it didn't really snap all the way in. It really takes a good slam, to get it to seat. I hope I'm right .

Are you in the SF Bay Area? I ask because I saw one like yours for sale. I can't remember if it had the trunk but for sure it had the same color gas tank.
Long live the internal combustion engine!
