    Any Gel Seat Pad users?

Anyone out the have any experience with a Gel Seat Pad like the one Cycle Gear sells? I haven't looked at it up close yet, just saw it in their monthly mailer.

I have the Coleman/Mad Dog ATV pad and was considering adding a Gel Seat Pad or a Sheep Skin cover as an option to throw on as an additional "Top Layer" for extended rides. I have heard good things about Sheep Skin.

    Thoughts greatly appreciated as always,

    Dan

I cut out a part of my stock seat and glued a Gel insert into it 3 months after I got mine in 2010. Then I put a sheepskin over it. That worked pretty well until I got a Seat Concepts seat last month. That is even better, but I still use the sheepskin. It lets air circulate under your rear and provides extra cushioning. Out here in the dry high desert I can get away with it, but it would not be so good in areas that get a lot of rain.

I cut the sheepskin large and tuck the edges under the seat when installing, so although I can get it off in a hurry it's not so easy to get back on and stay put. I carry a plastic garbage bag to store it in until I get home and pull the seat partway off. To me, it is worth the effort because it is so comfortable. I can also use that bag as a temporary cover for just a short shower, which about all I ever have to worry about on local rides. Get a natural color if you are going to try it so it doesn't get hot in the sun.

BTW, my gel insert seat foam and original cover are FS in the classifieds for a measly $25.

That is why I inset it into the seat foam. Mine was bottom gel, top memory foam, about 3/4 inch thick total. It was a rather slow affair to get it inset properly.

I have a large: the "PRO PAD" originally bought for a cruiser. On the dub, I slide it under a coleman. If you stay seated; perfect. If you stand through bouncy sections, it can still slide out so have to keep checking it(since I use it on different bikes - I don't secure it). Makes a difference in ride duration. -J-

I got turned on to the beadrider beads for the seat years ago after trying sheepskins etc. . It allows you to move around on the seat easily but more importantly allow s air to circulate underneath you. Love them andd wouldn't ride without them.

I had them on one BMW road bike. It was great for a long day in the saddle but only if I was wearing my thick aerostich pants. With just jeans I could feel every bead.

Not jell, but great for 100 plus off-road miles. Air Hawk. Gerry
