Since in Hong kong there literally is no where to go offroading - or dirt trails even...

everywhere is paved = ok the odd odd rare single track lane - which is definitely made of tarmac,

yes it's sad but true - of course I love a bit of bumpety bump road - but sadly not here!

Sometimes - ( ie rainy day ) the standard bridgestones arent great in the rain..

but my wife wants the big tire look - but i worry about her - since i took her bike in the rain the other day and frankly ended up with a foot down here and there...

I have Bt16 on my hornet and they dont slide around in the wet liek the TW does...

her tires are gettign lowish - so I would like to investigate the options!

    thanks

Shinko, Bridgestone, and Michelin all make street tires for the TW.

well its taken me a while but my hornet 600 ( honda 599 to you guys across the pond ) blew its head gasket so now I am on the TW for a while - actually I do love it - the wide bars, the curb jumping in the super city snarl ups.. and the light weight and turning circle!!!!! GEREAT!

anyway the rear is on its last legs - so what to get ,,

all I ever will do is street riding as its illegal here to ride anywhere that doesnt have tarmac and lines...

my mechanic fixing the hornet said the only tires I can get for the TW are 203 /204's

    this seems like B$!!

could any of you kind ladies and gentlemen give me some recommendations - maybe I can get something shipped over from fleabay!

I would love road tires - yeah dirt tires are better than street on dirt - but after losing the front end a few times in the wet I wouldnt mind trying some others

( i see a lot of Suzi DZ400 and KTM with some city slickers on...

    anything out there ?

    thanks guys!

I like the Bridgestone 203/204's but you could try Dunlop K180's, they look like flat tracker tyres.

I have never used them but something to consider.

I've done a lot of research on this and the strong vote for street-only goes to the Bridgestone 203/204s.

thanks guys - so it seems there really isnt a "pure" road tire that will fit?

actually its the front that concerns me,

i hand a foot down to rescue it a few times - I just dont think my wife is there yet - I did a fair bit of offroading when I was younger..

if I got a road front and stuck with the 204 on the rear ?

    just thinkin aloud here....

I'm using the Shinko 428 size 180-14 front and back. I like them fine 99% street use.

It is better to have a stickier front than rear. Pushing the limits results in a slide, which is easier to ride out than tucking the front.

Have you considered slowing a bit more for the turns?

yeah I guess I have! for sure -especially after that!!

    ,

I guess I am a confident rider rider and the sliding back isnt a massive concern, it was a wet 270 degree highway turn off that scared me when the front started slipping away, i didnt think I was going that fast and it had been raining for a couple of hours..

what about the mismatch argument? how does that affect a bike? what tire would compliment a Bridgestone rear end?

sticky front does sound better for pivoting around corners

I did notice my wife has dropped the bike a few times and the bars aint quite stright
