    CAN carry my Tdub.

    In response to my 'Can't carry' thread, I am now adding this. Patriot gone, big, new shiny 2016 Cherokee North here.

    The reciever was too high so I got a lowering attachment, cut off and redrilled the carrier and used a couple of tightener clamps to steady up the sloppyness.

    The lowering piece is rock solid but unfortunately the cheap ass carrier is still sloppy. Working on fabbing a piece to attack between the upper unused portion of the attachment and the carrier itself.
    But the Cherokee carries it effortlessly. YAY Baby! 20150925_131436 (Medium).jpg

    How about a pic showing the distance from the tailgate. Wondering if it would clear my spare tire

    Nice setup, looks great!

    Is there any way to attach a couple of straps from the front and rear of the bike to your undercarriage? My 4Runner has a couple of tow hooks that work great for this and this keeps the bike and carrier from wobbling. Might not work for you though since you've got plastic and exhausts that might prohibit this.

    Receiver to center of bike is about 18 inches. Folded peg to bumper is about 12. I pushed the tubing in as far as I could and redrilled. You could hang it out farther but don't know if I would want to. No way to attach straps on this car without causing some paint rub. And I don't think it would solve the rocking. Gonna try to drive a plastic shim or two in the gap today to see if that helps. Also am looking at an angle bracket that is less than 1/8 thick I may be able to drive in from the rear. we'll see.

    I have a Cherokee too, a Trailhawk. When you say the carrier was too high, was it too high to get the bike loaded, or too high because the brake lights were obscured? And were the handlebars hitting the vehicle? Is that the harbor freight carrier? I have the same extension/double hitch adapter but would be concerned with the additional forces created by placing the weight farther from the hitch.

    good thing you lowered it, now you don't have to screw around with lights. looks like someone made a trip to princess auto. I have the same carrier. how does your jeep handle with the bike on? I can feel it on the back of my superduty

    Wish I could find a Heavy duty hitch for my Suzuki Samuria 88 tin top so I can carry my Dub on the back while I tow it with my truck and camper!
    I guess my son and I are going to have to fabricate something. Trying to get stuff ready to make it to Moab!

    If you try to put a rack and a T-Dub on the back of a Samurai you will probably lift the front wheels off the ground!...it has been tried. Maybe if you put 200 lbs. of lead on the towbar it would work.

    The VH-SPORT has a Class III hitch on the end of the carrier. It is limited to light-duty applications.

    The max towing weight, regardless of your vehicle, is 3000 lbs
