The 87 is "Mostly" on the road ~ Its a red one too !

I found this little guy last week in Altoona Pa right near the Horse Shoe bend park, (Yes we went there after picking up the bike) Eileen loves trains and Ill take her any where she wants since she puts up with me most of the time,
This 87 was owned buy a guy since 1990, He bought it with 300 miles on it and was part of a group who rode once a week with a few friends during the nice weather,
The bike has covered 7500 miles since 1987 and has been down countless times.
The drive chain was so stretched it was clacking loudly and was scaring me and the cam chain has never been adjusted in its entire life,
Only other issue was, The needle valve sticks from time to time,
    SO
I put a new/used chain on the bike since it only had 1900 well cared for miles which I has after swapping an -0- ring chain on another bike, Amazingly the sprockets are OK on the 87,
Then I adjusted the cam chain, It was actually slapping around a bit, You could hear it,
Valves checked out OK and the bike runs out very quietly and it IS quite a swift machine, I think it pulls harder than my 97 with 3000 miles on it,
Im pretty happy with my new purchase,
While its a tad worn, Its been garaged the whole time and everything is in working order aside from the carb needing to rebuilt.
It came with new OEM tires and a fresh battery as well.
    So,
Heres some pics of the old Soldier.
    Oh,
And one of my the wife took,

    OOhhh Parts bike ,
    I didn't think of that,
I just put 10 miles on it this morning and other than the occasional sticky needle valve it does run well and neck snapping fast !
I like the patina and worn paint on the frame and engine casing, It has real personality!
    But it would make a GREAT parts bike ! ! ! !! !
    Or,
Ill keep it for loaner at least for the weekend as there are about 20 family members coming to visit this Sunday for the Memorial fest were throwing,
    MMmmmmm Scratching chin, Parts bike ? ? ? ?
    Who wants the kick starter?

I want the same one for my collection.
To get a 87 in this great condition would be the holy grail for me.
Next year I could get a special "H" license plate. Only for historic bikes/cars; age 30+
