    Clean Your Lenses

On last weekend's group ride of a dozen plus TWs in the rain I noticed a big variation in how bright, and thus visible and safe, many of the bike's taillights were. New bikes in general seemed to have brighter tail lights and turn signals, perhaps because their bulbs, reflectors and lenses didn't have a multi-year accumulation of dust on them.
So if you haven't cleaned inside the housings of all your secondary lighting in the last ten years or so I would urge you to peek inside taillights and turn signals. Amazing amount of dust can filter in there over time. Want you all to be very well seen.

    Fred,

Did happen to notice, or think, that it might be related to the different electrical systems of the pre-2001 and post-2001 bikes?

That very well might be the reason Brian. I just like giving people things to do.

However my lenses from headlight to tail light that I have inspected all had dust in them.

Cleaning the dust out is sound advice. It also goes for older camp trailer lights. Mine were so dust filled they were not visible at all in the daylight.

Great idea Fred. Help us get through winter and be safer in the spring.
