I have owned several bikes over the years, some quite fancy, some not. I dabbled in a custom Sportster that had more chrome that should be legally allowed, Ducati sport bike with lots of carbon fiber and titanium, Japanese cruisers and sport bikes that were way too fast for my own good and several dirt bikes.

Yet in 30 years of riding, something new happened to my very plain, 95% stock, and even a little ugly TW that has never happened before...

The bike was sitting outside the hospital where I work yesterday and someone placed a note on it asking me if I wanted to sell it and if so to call his number. I have owned it less than a month and it is still the nasty '90 teal color

I know these bikes are a high-demand item, but really?

This ever happen to anyone else?

Shadow, not exactly offers to buy, but I'd bet a good percentage of the folks on this forum were attracted to the bike when they saw it on the street or parked rather than discovering it on the showroom floor. Its a common statement that Mr. Yama dealer discourages people from looking at it, but the bike sells itself on the basis of its ride appeal. I know I had no intention of buying a motorcycle until I saw a guy unload a tw off the back of his motorhome in Sequoia NP and proceed to motoraway for a day of zooming through King's Canyon. Talk about envy. I was sick for a week and two weeks later had my own ride. Go figure - I've never had that urge for a sport bike or a BMW. Tom

Thats how I got hooked by accident.

came across an offer to possibly trade two for my boat. That deal fell through but 2 weeks later I had mine, which was just last week as a matter of fact.

I dont know what it is, but they are cool little things.

I've had offers on my truck many times. Whenever I have a garage sale, because we aren't allowed to stick signs up in village property, I would usually leave my car on one main street with a garage sale sign on it, and my truck on another street with the same sign. Funny thing is, my truck is a beat up '89 Ram, and looks like it's been to hell and back, but every time there is a garage sale, people always try to buy it off of me. I use it a lot, so I always turn them down.

I've never had anyone ask to buy my TW, but it does get a lot of looks. In fact, I get more waves when I'm on that bike than I do while riding my cruiser.

I was sold after first seeing a picture of a salt racer TW200, and bought mine about 4 months later. I've had it almost (not quite) a year, and as of yet have still not seen another TW on the road, parked or otherwise.

I can see how someone would be attracted to it the second they see it though

First time I laid eyes on a TW was in 2008, just days after I bought a brand new Suzuki DRZ400... I was instantly drawn to the TW and had to go home and look it up. I had to put it outta my mind as I had just bought a new bike. Well, the DRZ went away after 2 years as I hated having a payment on a dirt bike. Soon after, I got lucky and found a local TW that had been lightly used on a farm for 20 years. Now I am part of the T-dub club. Just like me, many people are drawn to these great little bikes... and so far, I've had 1 offer to buy it from me...No way am I selling this thing!

I've had several offers. Tdub is NOT FOR SALE. I've had many people ask where they could get one.

i've never had a bike that has gotten so much attention. i get questions about it all the time. hopefully once my triumph is finished it beats out the tw200 in terms of strangers asking questions about it.

I first got turned onto the tw when the local gestapos first started cracking down on the atv riders. I had some friends that got some dual sports, but the seat height kept me from going that route. A salesmen at the local dealership turned me onto the tw when I complained about everything he had in the showroom. Don't know why he didn't have one, but I did my research and had one in a month or so. TW's are a rarity in these parts, and people are always amazed when they see me on it, and try to buy it. I have found several more for other folks on Craigslist, local classifieds, etc., but I still have a waiting list. I'm afraid that when more people start riding these around here, Smokey Bear will pass an ordinance against tagged bikes too, and they will go the way of the four-wheeler.
