I tried to install my new rack today and this is the result. The mounting tab does not allow the seat to sit down fully. I am wondering if the rack or bike has changed for different model years. Does anybody have this rack? It is on a 2009. I have not called the factory or the dealer I got it from because it is the weekend. Thanks for any help.

Seems like just about any rack you buy will do that. Cycleracks do the same.

I know you should not have to do it, but I think the process would be fast, simple and no one will be the wiser. Remove your seat. Pull out a few of the staples in the area of the corners as to allow you to remove the vinyl cover and trim some of the nylon seat base. Don't leave any sharp edges that will cut the cover material. Pull the vinyl tight and push the staples back in place and take that nice rack for a ride. I think this would be quicker and more direct than dealing with any of the other 'issues'. Take care. Gerry
    Take care my Friend.........

Yes, that is how they fit... I have had 2 of them on 2 bikes. You can alter the seat as suggested or leave it. I have left mine alone and had no problems.

It's very easy to trim the seat plastic if it bothers you, as mrgizmow suggested. I trimmed mine and stapled the cover back down in about 30 minutes.

There is a thread here somewhere that shows how to do it.

I had to trim seat plastic on both my OEM racks. I used a round file to groove out the area where the pipes would hit. Less than an hour for both.
