    I just received a call from the service manager at the local Yamaha shop regarding my sick 2005 TW. The first thing he asked me was who adjusted my valves last. I said I purchase the bike with 1192 miles on it and had not adjusted the valves since it sounded good and I had put on only an additional 600 miles.



    He said that a valve adjustment lock nut had come off, slid under the cam and was rattling around in there. They put it back together, adjusted the valves and it ran like it was supposed to. I was really excited to hear that I had not trashed my cool mtn tool. There are adventures to be had and most cannot be done when I am on foot. I am also glad that there now will only be one loose nut associated with my TW Dan.

    Now, who was telling who that his TW's valves sounded funny last month?



    I had a similar dump just today...hit a rock in the shade, hi-sided off the single track downhill and ended up 10 feet below the bike which was upside down on a 30 degree hill....thankfully a soft hill!



    But Man! that little TW is sure hard to right when it's downhill. I think I'm going to put a deer block and tackle in my kit. There was no way to drag it around without going WAY down the slope into the creek, so I just had to muscle it. Got it upright with a handy log chocking the front, got up hill of it and dragged the front forks back up onto the trail, then the back end. Had to take three breathers!



    I was alone and lucky or I'd have had to walk out.

    On my last ride with Mike I fell over and it took both of us to get it upright. I sure like customizing my rig, but at this point it is ridiculously heavy. I fear there is a good chance that I may not get it upright by myself. Here is my game hoist. I looked long and hard for something very compact. This unit really impressed me. And this is what I did with the hope of aiding a two-hand lift. Gerry

    Ron, outstanding news! I really like your RR's and hope to make it over there and meet/ride with the Idaho crew. So glad that it was nothing serious with the bike, and as you said, one loose nut is enough!!



    Rocky, been right there and it sucks! Only part of riding alone that does. Sounds like you made it work though. Good Job!



    Mr. Giz, you Sir amaze me. I would consider it a huge personal favor if you would hook up with me one weekend and go riding. This would have to include a full and complete tour of your bike and each and every Gizmo and it's reasoning and development. To include the ones that didn't make it and why. Please???

    I remember a hoist thread on the old server. Guess it's time to re-hash that issue.

    Yea, the nice thing about being around a long time seems to be, I now have a picture for almost every topic. I sometimes wonder if perhaps I am looking for a little 'to much' attention. None the less, the hoist is compact, well built and has a good pull ratio, though I have forgotten what it is. Gerry.
