After having the stock front tire tried to kill us both on several occasions, my Riding Buddy and I both went to Bridgestone 302s. Effective tire, legal, and a nice balance to the stock rear. I had 606s front and back a DS KTM, and they were passable for DOT knobbies, but that KTM rode nothing like the TW, and I hardly ever used it on pavement. You're about to mount a rear knobby tire on the front. There are lot's of opinions on here; so just Google the site for yourself for the postings related to front tires. You'll find 50 folks swearing by 50 different tires.

Thanks for the reply.. So you are saying that the K270, T63, and D606 are all rear tires?... I'm looking for something that will ride well on road and off 50/50 . I'm still looking for an answer about size... What tire size will get me close o stock?

I run the Kenda K270 4.00x18 which is close to factory size(a bit smaller) but real good as a 50/50 tire. Off road I drop the air pressure to 13 lbs and have no problems with grip on a variety of road conditions. On road the pressure is kept at 27 psi and has never slipped on me yet. The tire has worn very well with over 4000 kms on it so far. I would buy this tire again. Blair

My Dad is running the Dunlop 606 in 120/90/18. But if you're looking for a 50/50, go with the Kenda. My Dad replaced his Kenda with the 606 because he needed a more aggressive tire for offroad. The Kenda did serve him well for a number of years. It wore like iron.

Kenda K270 will be great. Love mine. Mine is larger than stock but looks and functions well. 5.10x18. Consider getting the next size down to be closer in size and weight of the stock tire.

I recently added the Kenda K 270 5.10x18, it took a little to get used to it, but in short order I found it's a night & day difference. Depending on how much asphalt you think you'll be using it on, you may want to go with the size Gun Ship recommended. I really like the way my bike handles the dirt roads now, far better than before. I went with the Kenda 270 in 120/80-18. Most folks here go to the 5.10. I chose the 120/80 because it is the lightest of the 4 270's that fit...it's also very close to the stock size. Go to the Kenda site and carefully look at the width, circumference, tread depth, and weight...there are substantial differences between the 4 tires.

So far, I'm delighted for 50/50. And yes, these are all shown as rear tires. ANYTHING is better than stock!

So will going larger than stock out front make the bike sit higher out front?
