I agree 100% on that, but maybe with an anniversary edition or some major to the bike. Like a 300

    More “flying bananas” !

What we need is Yamaha to be a bit more imaginative with their colour schemes, and a new thread entitled “Help, my bike is the wrong colour”

When the 2019 colour scheme came out, I thought it was a bit “boring”, but having seen one “in the flesh” at Moab recently, it actually looks quite smart. But the fact is that we can customise these bikes to hell and back, and a “paint job” is fairly cheap to achieve

Meanwhile, there’s always a chance that a 2009 came with a paint scheme from 2013, as “worm hole events” are well documented in Nuclear accidents in Japan (the country that gave us “Godzilla”)

As for “anniversary” colours, (or other variations) – the 2007 (225) special editions marked the 30th – we’ll be waiting a long time for the next one

    Onwards and upwards ……

It’s quite hard to pin down the exact year to a colour, for instance, my ’98 is shown as a ’96, so I’m just going to lump them in together. You can reference the original post - https://tw200forum.com/forum/general...lection-2.html - if you want to look them up, but the exact years are subject to confirmation

I wish we could've gotten some of these variations in the states. I'm really into these and jealous of the Japanese market. Then again, Yamaha is a Japanese company, so it definitely makes sense that they'd have unique offerings there.

No idea what happened to “your” bike, could be a lot of things, but all this thread aims to do is designate year and colour according to Yamaha …..
About the 2009 on page one:

On page 1 the 2008 is gray GFX/ white paint- and correct.

Page one 2009 is listed as red/ white like 2010 - 2011 which I believe is a mistake and not correct.
    Again, I could be wrong!

I think the 2009 TW in USA is white paint with blue and black stripe, black front fender.
I definitely do not think 2009 is red/ white like 2010 and 2011 though.
Maybe someone has one with a 2009 VIN that is red/white but it is actually a 2010 model year (see below).

Check out page one again and see what you think.

The 2012 and 2013 are blue/ black stripe on white paint with WHITE front fender which is correct.

The 2009 I think in reality is exactly like the 2012 and 2013 but with black fender, but it seems like maybe Yamaha
put out some with a white fender though which adds to the confusion.

    --------------------------------------------------------

On a different but related topic- Going by pics on google, people list their bikes wrong all the time.
Sometimes they are way off (several years, even decades), but sometimes they might be looking at the date
on VIN plate and that might mislead them.

For instance my 2017 XSR900 is a 2017 model year and blue.. but the VIN says 2016, because it was
made at the end of 2016 in Japan, but it is definitely a model year 2017.
Maybe that happens with TW200's too?

That wouldn't explain the black front fenders on some 2012 - 2013 TWs though,
or the white front fenders on some 2009 TWs.

    Hellz Yeah!

    A 300 6-speed with just a little more compression & cam.
    Fuel injection.
Aluminum swing arm & rear wheel.
    Rear disc.

Paint it any damn color you want..I'm in!

But yellow & black would be cool...

i find it strange that yamaha hasn't listened to anybody, after all those years, and still puts the same front tire on. i didn't know that the same front was installed way back in the beginning
