    I thinking about installing a on off switch for my headlight. It bothers me when I am trying to ride in a place to, at daylight.



    Does any one see any problem with what I am trying to do? Thanks Mike

    You're from California? California state law says it'd be illegal on-road. That might be a problem.



    "25650.5. Every motorcycle manufactured and first registered on and

    after January 1, 1978, shall be equipped with at least one and not

    more than two headlamps which automatically turn on when the engine

    of the motorcycle is started and which remain lighted as long as the

    engine is running. This section does not preclude equipping

    motorcycles used as authorized emergency vehicles with a switch to be

    used to turn off the headlamp during emergency situations or when

    the light would interfere with law enforcement, if the switch is

    removed prior to resale of the motorcycle."



    I don't know if interrupting that circuit with a switch would cause a problem with the electrical or not. Someone who knows more will have to chime in.

    I will leave lights on, when on the pavement, its just, that hr. towards day break.

    I installed a HID headlight bulb on mine, it comes on in the high beam position on the switch. i run the light when on the road and turn it off when offroad which hopefully gives the battery a little extra boost. HID uses only 35 watts for at least twice the light and visibility. woof

    ya know i was thinking this the other day, came out to find my battery almost dead... and as my TW has never started up on the first push of the button i was wondering why I was trying to start the bike with all lights on (tail, head, gauges.... ) just seems if im at the end of a battery charge and desperate for few more cranks to get it started, the last thing i need is legal lights

    You know, on police Harleys, the headlights were wired to come on only with the engine running. The wiring circuit included the oil pressure sensor. I'm not sure that's a normal Harley thing or not, but it doesn't seem like a horrible idea for the reason mentioned above.

    You could wire a toggle into the low beam circuit without cutting any wires. Just unplug the bullet connectors and wire in a switch their using bullet connectors on the ends of your toggles.

    Thanks for information. I have a brand new on & off switch, i will mount on the handle bar, so it looks like it came like that. I will try the lower beam
