    New guy from WA

Joined a few weeks ago right after I took the leap and bought a 2007. Been lurking for a few years learning as much as I could. Started looking 3 weeks ago and found 3 worth considering. First was a 2006 within 20 miles that had just turned 2000 miles. Very clean but no extras. 2nd was. 2010 with 378 miles and a rear Cyclerack and the 3rd was a 2007 with front and rear Cycleracks and 98 miles. Went for the unbelievable low mileage 2007 that looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Iím the 3rd owner.
Not my first bike. Had a TY 250 40+ years ago and did competitive trials. Purchased a 500 Sportsman Atv in 2007 and have a fully restored 84 CT 110.
First impressions: this thing is cold blooded as hell. I fire up no choke and then let idle with choke partially pulled out. Takes awhile before she wants to run unchoked. Front tire is spooky on gravel. A 241 will be coming soon. Really really needs a 6th gear. Needs a riser and atv bars. Really uncomfortable while on the pegs. And whatís with mini bike pegs on a full sized motorcycle? They too will be replaced. It seems pretty zippy but havenít really pushed it. Took it up to 50 once. Shifts like butter. Putís a big smile on your face.
I have completed the quick release seat mod, installed led bulb in tail/brake light housing, put battery tender leads on what appears to be original battery, slapped Coleman seat pad on and mounted Rigid case on rear rack. Future mods will be hand guards, led headlight, led driving lights and Cyclerack mounts for rear panniers.
Really need to just put some miles on it but winter is here and riding at 36 is a bit brisk.

Welcome from Vancouver Island! Congrats on your TW purchase. Pretty nice to have three to choose from! The low mileage and long warm-up suggest your carb might need some attention. You'll get lots of advice on that from experts here. Good call on mounting a new Shinko 241 and risers. Sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun with it

As a teenager I had a 78 TY250, it was one of my favourite motorcycles.
The bar riser, ATV handle bars and larger foot pegs will make the TW more rideable.
2001 TW200 sporting a MT43 up front. Duro has gone to a good home. 2015 VStrom XT, 1996 DT 200, Broken 2010 Xingue 400 XY. 2009 WR250r now shared with my son.

Welcome to the firum. I too am a new guy from WA state... I live on the wet side but grew up in Ephrata, and have just acquired a 2010 with 345 miles on it.

I'm loading up both my 4x4 500 Suzuki Quad and my "New To Me" 2010 TW in the morning and heading back home to the dry side ( Ephrara ) for Thanksgiving with family and some late Archery mule Deer hunting with my crossbow, as well, as some riding thru the Dry land Wheat growing areas, canyons and stubble fields between Moses Coulee, Soap Lake and Ephrata while looking for a coyote.

That is if the snow which may be on the ground is low enough to let that happen.
