    Ride Report: Resurrection Ride

After all the work, hours and way too much money put into the rebuild today I finally got to get a ride in. Man it was great even though just a short little ride to test what else needs to be done and “road test” the repairs. It took a minute to re familiarize to the old girl but with in a couple blocks we where whipping around potholes again. The ride itself wasn’t much to write about other than my baby is finally back on the road and that made it a great ride.

A big thank you for all the info I learned here over the years and the support from the community.

A smarter man than me would have written her off and used the money to buy a newer TW but there is just way too much emotion in the thousands of miles that we had already shared to let her get scrapped. It was a combination of right bike at the right time but forcing me to slow down and enjoy the old, sometimes forgotten, non-highway routes and still letting me escape off into the woods to recharge my soul helped me at a time I needed it more than I knew then. While no where near as bad off as in “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintance” that seat is where I found myself again when I was lost. Even the wreck and injuries showed me who was a real friend. You just don’t discard things like that, at least I don’t.

Thanks guys, it was a labor of love and now I’ve touched every bolt and wire on the bike and know more about it than I ever planned.
