Hi folks, well, I am getting closer to starting my custom TW200 project. I have starting wondering about wheel options. Given that the TW200 has very particular tires, are there any aftermarket wheel options that will work? I am not dead set on changing the wheels, but I really like mag wheels like these:

Are there any options? Is there a specific wheel size I should look for? I am thinking there isn't much in the way of options for changing out the wheels while keeping the fat rear tire, as I have never seen custom wheels on a TW.

    Thanks - Bart

    I've just found this site:

    http://www.procycle.us/bikepages/tw200.html

But there are no supermoto wheels.

Actually the bridgestone tw203/204 and the Shinko SR428 are basically street tires. They look supermoto to me. Not a lot of other options for the tdub.

That is not 100% correct, there are many tyre options (direct made for the TW) available (should be a complete list):

    - Bridgestone TW32/34

    - Bridgestone TW203/204

    - Dunlop K180

    - Shinko SR428

    - VeeRubber VRM274/VRM275

Back to topic -> Wheel Set for the TW <-

From my experiences, there are no other wheels easy to fit in ("plug'n'play").

You have to make for every other wheel set spacers and adaptors.

That's what I thought, thank's guys. The bike in my pic at the top is a Yamaha SR500, and I think those wheels are just stock SR400/500 wheels powder coated black. I figured since I have never seen any other wheels on a TDub options must be nil...

4 options other than stock is not many. I would also say the Shinkos and the Bridgestone 203/204s are similar enough to be counted as one choice. I'd say both tire and wheel options are limited.

Buchanan's can custom drill aluminum rims to match the hub, spoke count, and spoke angle. It's not cheap, but if you wanted something completely custom, that'd be it. You would not retain the 14" rear, you'd need to step up to a 17" or 18" rim. Tires won't be AS wide as the 180 the TW has, but you can get close with 150's/160's. Get's you in the supermoto rim sizing and tire options.

It's an option to look into, but, obviously, they are not mags.

Some guys do put mag's on the drz's, yzf's, etc. They get them off older sportbikes (cbr's) as the older ones' wheels aren't as wide as the newer ones (the drz's swingarms can only take so wide of a wheel). With the TW you could probably try going for the newer, wider ones as the swingarm of the TW should allow it, but tire choices would be limited to street tires for sportbikes. It takes some work and with a TW you'd need to solve the difference in axle diameter, but here are some examples of that:
