    Tools

I am a newb and probably missed something, but am surprised there is not a sticky for custom and or extra useful tools. not wrenches or screwdrivers, but the really innovative stuff that members have come up with, I have seen this on other sites and is really helpful, An example would be the trailer hitch spring compressor that TW-Brian made. way easy to make and VERY helpful if your attempting a spring change obviously.

IF ITS GOOD AND FAST, ITS NOT CHEAP. IF ITS GOOD AND CHEAP ITS NOT FAST, IF ITS FAST AND CHEAP , ITS NOT GOOD.

What more tools do you need than vice grips and a big hammer?

ya I know duct tape can fix anything, one of my "problems" (according to my wife) is I am a Tool A holicic, my favorite part about starting a new project is it is the best reason to buy, make, borrow or steal, a new tool that I dont have. and I NEVER borrow anything! so Ya lets get a tool thread going. As a newb I have been mining info from the archived threaded on a vast array of topics what to do and what not to to do to your Tdub . but only find a special tool if I happen to stumble across it. like I have not found the chain slack tool yet, Tuff to look up something you don't even know what to ask for. SOO can we start a sticky tool thread?

Not all BMW riders, I told some BMW dealers that if I can't do my own maintenance, I will buy another Yamaha.

This 1/4 inch drive x 5 inch swivel head quick release ratchet is my favorite TW tool. By swiveling the head with deep 10mm and 12mm sockets I can service most nuts and bolts without need for an extension. Fast and compact, small enough to pack on the bike. Textron, ~$12 @ Harbor Freight and others. ratchet.jpg
