Hey guys well it's a cool -4 c here and I'm still riding to work. Started wondering what if the bike doesn't turn over one day would it be safe to get a boost off a car or is that a bad idea. I know they are both 12volt but just wanted ur input.

I have occasionally jumpstarted motorcycles from a car battery without problems, however I do not have the car running while doing this.

I asked that question three or four years ago of the owner of Poway Motorcycle in San Diego. His advice was to avoid it if possible. The older bikes might tolerate it but the newer electronic ignitions and F.I. are more delicate. I got by with doing it for a friend on a Honda CBR600. He was in a bind for time. I would have bought him a very expensive new ignition system if it had failed. I got lucky.

I'd recommend buying a small booster pack. I picked up a tiny one (too small for almost any car) from Wallyworld for dirt CHEAP! 20 bucks on sale
