My first TW is serial number 000823, California sold new in 1986.
I just tore the old girl down for the first time after nearly 6k dirt miles, one problem ever, needed new CDI.
Love the TW's so much I bought a second one 1993. Then a 2007 XT225, but don't ride that as much.
source of confusion on the years, mine is registered as an 86 and has a wierd number on engine. not sure where to look for vin number, is it just a sticker on fork or is there a stamped number somewhere?
The serial number is on a sticker and stamped on the frame. If you look on the right front of frame yoke where the triple tree mounts. turn wheel to the side.
70 years old and been riding my 88 since it was new. And I'll keep riding as long as I am sharp enough to anticipate what might happen if... if you can't anticipate, you die.
I know my oldest bike is 2008, then 2009, and 2017. I’m 72 in a month. I ride as often as I can find an excuse multiple times a day. Between the 3 bikes I’ve got around 34,000 miles. I swear each runs and shifts differently.
