Thinking about my first few mods.

Hello gang, I just picked up my new to me 2017 TW on Saturday. I haven't had much time to ride it other than around the neighbor hood so far but i'm already looking at what my fist mods will be. I was thinking of going with a 47 tooth rear sprocket, hand guards and a skid plate. What are your favorite mods you've done to your TW and what do you think of my choice for possible first 3 mods? Always open for suggestions from all of you with more TW experience then me. TIA.

I just bought my 2017... Ordered a new LED headlight I found out about on this site. Inquiring right now on a Ricochet skid shield, and building a rack for the back. Looking at a inner tube sealant in case of a nail or something.

Bigger pegs are good bang for buck compared to stock kiddie pegs. I got Krators from Amazon cheap and durable.

Invest in a good front tire if you plan much off-roading.

+1 for handguards and skid plate and a sprocket that suits your riding.

And welcome to the forum from WI

Do the carb air screw mod. Plenty of info on the site here and best bang for the buck because it dosn't cost any. It's free! I also agree with the Krator foot pegs. Dirt cheap and a huge improvement. One thing on the skid plate. I have the ricochet plate, anodized black. It looks great but reflects a lot of engine noise up to you that you did not hear before. At first you might think somethings wrong with the bike!

I'd say a carb rejet is a cheap mod that greatly improves the overall riding experience and extends the engine life. A complete kit with instructions is available on Ebay. The other major thing for me was the rear sprocket.

Depending on where you are located and how you ride, an oil cooler kit (I sell them, so this one has to be menitoned

My favorite mod for comfort was foamy grips. The handlebar vibes are killer on this little bike, especially if you do a lot of road riding. If you are doing some off road, hand guards will save your levers in a fall.

Maybe depending on your mileage when going with the 47t rear might get a x-ring chain to boot. 12v port is a cheap add on also

When I first got my TW I thought about going with a 47t rear sprocket, but after riding for 600 miles I'm keeping the 50 tooth. Most of my highway riding is 55mph or less and it does fine with the oe sprocket. I really don't want any higher gearing for the trail riding I do. I have to say, the Yamaha engineers were probably spot on with the gearing for trying to cover the widest range of terrain the cycle will be ridden on.

I couldn't show my TW to anybody until I swapped out for adult-sized pegs. Too embarrassed.
After that and somewhat in this order:

    Adult foot shifter
    D-Flex Handguards
    47 Sprocket & X ring chain
    1 inch handlebar risers
    Seat Concepts seat
    On & On & On
