2015 tank near mint value vs clark tank. Thoughts?

I'm having a difficult time time weighing this out so I thought I'd seek the wisdom of fellow dubbers.

My 2015 tank is near mint (one tiny hard to spot chip) but I only ride off road and would like the reduced weight and volume of a clark xt225 tank in black. They are a bit pricey and as are new tanks so I wanted to pick you brains on the value.

What's a fair price for my tank should I decide to sell it?

How can I do this without having a period with no tank and thus no riding? Once I find a buyer, order the clark, and once I get it, take payment from buyer and then send off my 2015 tank?

A couple examples off Ebay $200 - $300 USD. Personally I would keep the tank if possible for a couple reasons. I don't know about Nova Scotia but in Ontario that Clark tank is not street legal. If you ever decide to sell your bike it will be worth more and sell easier with the stock tank. Also if you ever decide to sell your bike the Clark tanks hold a pretty good value and should be easy to sell. Also you could try running an ad on Kijiji looking for a tank. I ran an ad looking for an XT350 tank and you would not believe the responses I got.

Buy an old beat up tank and old beat up plastic and put them on your bike and enjoy the heck out of it. When it comes time to sell put the brand new/perfect plastic and tank back on and ask an outrageous for you hardly used well cared for TW.

I don't plan on ever selling my bike but who knows....I may not like it, but be forced to some day and that's worth considering.
Either way it would also be a shame for me to dent this tank off road being in such beautiful condition.

Kijiji is a long shot for something so specific but better then no shot. I might try that. I did try ebay and amazon and no luck. Especially since I want a black one.
I think I'd have better luck on this site....Anyone willing to part with a black clark xt225 tank?

From what I've seen, recent year stock tanks in this condition appear to be worth 400-500 USD shipped.

Ok I didn't want it to come to this and will now have to add extra security to my garage but from a simple kijiji ad I scored 4 XT350 tanks. I paid $180 for the first 2 in the pic that are almost mint with caps and petcocks. The third one was free. The 4th is my original TW tank plus I have the XT tank mounted on my bike that I think I paid $50 for. Wanted ads work.

I would not worry about denting your tank. You seem to be a great rider.

Thanks. If I wasn't constantly taking on new challenges I'd be more confident in not denting it. Then again not denting my tank might be motivation to be a better rider.

Looks like kijiji served you well. I'm looking for a plastic clark xt225 tank in black which is less common and more specific but still worth a shot.

Clark has new "blemish" TW tanks for $150. 2.7 gallon capacity vs. 1.8 gallon stock tank. I hope the link works.

I saw that. Not an XT in black but I'll be checking the blemish section till one pops up.
