    Taller Tw200 Seat Concepts seat

I know some of you don't follow facebook so...

With enough deposits Seat Concepts is going to offer (through procycle) a 1" taller seat. Same price as usual but only available in "Carbon Fiber" cover material.

I believe only a few deposits needed to get it going. Simply call procycle and give em a deposit.

Did they say if it was the same price or more than their others? Thanks for the heads up.

Same price. 179 plus the usual. Invoice was like 190.

As to why... someone wanted one and reached out to seat concepts. Procycle saw an opportunity to cash in on it.

Judging by how many tall people are adding foam, seat covers, etc there seems to be a "need"

I've added 1" of additional foam between seat pans and Seat Concepts foam to raise seated height. Kit comes with just enough fabric to permit this if one is a careful stapler.
Why? Goal this satisfied was reducing the angle my old knees have to bend through each time I transition from seated to standing. Some sit all the time, others prefer a continuous trials like stance of standing while trail riding. I tend to transition between sitting and standing on the pegs quite frequently, enough to cause knee pain at end of day and thigh cramps over night after a day's vigorous trail riding. The taller set helps a bit with these creaky complaints from age and use ( or abuse?)
If ordering again I would certainly ask for the taller foam.

A taller seat comes with the sacrifice of reaching the ground. Probably to biggest asset of the TW200 is the rider's ability to just plant their feet on the ground when things get snakey. Which is also a reason I don't put those huge saddle bags on my bike; they trap a rider to the seat if they need to bail off the back. But that's another pet peeve of mine. Ha!
Oh, and suspension 'upgrades' that not only increase suspension travel, but sit the bike taller. Heck,, with taller seats, longer suspension travel, taller ATV tires, you are right back up there with a seat height of a standard dirt bike. Completely eliminating the purpose I bought this runt bike to begin with; as a burro to get me in and out of the woods while riding at a pace that is slow, steady and sure footed.

Got to be a better way to do what?
And by the way I for one did not use soft gushy foam.
One inch of dense foam does not raise set height to the levels of other unacceptable trail bikes. I cope with the change just fine.
Also the greater ride height under the skidplate of suspension mods causes my feet, boots and footpegs to suffer less damage when riding on narrow trails created by conventional dirt bikes, places where a stock TW sits so low that scraping on rut side margins occurs. This scraping can be anything from simply inconvenient to downright painful and dangerous, or actually prevent riding through (for example several miles of deeply incised singletrack at Chalk Bluff ORV park cannot be ridden without frequently plowing dirt with footpegs).
On gnarly trails I am familiar with I can often make go-arounds for Betty Boop but the higher Mr.Gizmo sails right over many of these choke points preserving my stamina, health and sunny disposition.

To each their own, I am not seeking approval nor converts....simply addressing the question of "Why" I like a bit more saddle height via more foam. Life is full of compromises, fortunately we are all usually free to select our preferences and the compromises that attend them.
