    Old Motorcycle songs

Me and my daughter were in Dairy Queen the other day and heard this song. I thought it was funny. Any other motorcycle songs out there anyone knows of?

I found this song while looking for the other one.

First motorcycle song I remember hearing. I found in my Mom's old 78s collection in my Grandma's garage when I was 5 years old.

The greatest motorcycle song of all time is Steppenwplf's " Born to be Wild " from the movie " Easy Rider " that transformed the world and ended the age of " How much is that doggy in the Window "......

I love motorcycle songs...and you guys have posted some good ones!

May I humbly present what I consider the best motorcycle song...Ever.

"A Redheaded Girl and a Vincent Black Lightning 1952"

If you're the kind of guy or gal who gets goosebumps from "special" songs...I encourage you to read & listen.

    Video

    "1952 Vincent Black Lightning"
Words, music & performance by Sir Richard Thompson

Says Red Molly, to James, "Well that's a fine motorbike.
A girl could feel special on any such like."
Says James, to Red Molly, "My hat's off to you.
    It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952.
And I've seen you on the corners and cafes, it seems.
Red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme."
And he pulled her on behind,
    And down to Boxhill,
    They'd Ride...

Says James, to Red Molly, "Here's a ring for your right hand.
    But I'll tell you in earnest I'm a dangerous man;
For I've fought with the law since I was seventeen.
I've robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine.
    And now I'm twenty-one years, I might make twenty-two.
And I don't mind dyin' but for the love of you.
But if fate should break my stride, then I'll give you my Vincent, To Ride..."

"Come down, come down Red Molly, " called Sargent McQuade.
"For they've taken young James Aidee for Armed Robbery.
Shotgun blast hit his chest, left nothing inside.
Oh, come down, Red Molly, to his dying bedside."
When she came to the hospital, there wasn't much left.
He was runnin' out of road. He was runnin' out of breath.
But he smiled, to see her cry.
And said, "I'll give you my Vincent.
    To Ride..."

Said James, "In my opinion, there's nothing in this world
Beats a '52 Vincent and a Redheaded girl.
Now Nortons and Indians and Greavses won't do.
Oh, they don't have a Soul like a Vincent '52."
Well he reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys.
He said, "I've got no further use...for these.
I see Angels on Ariels in leather and chrome,
Swoopin' down from Heaven to carry me home."
And he gave her one last kiss and died.

And he gave her his Vincent.
    To Ride...

    My favorite Vincent photo.
No, it's not James or Red Molly...but it could be!

Just how I feel on a fast bike!

This is actually a "Black Shadow" road model. Slightly down in power from the race-only "Black Lightning" model.

I was very lucky to take a long, glorious ride on one identical to this, on a beautiful summer afternoon in the Texas Hill Country.

The most famous Vincent, and Vincent photo ever...the "Bathing Suit Bike" with Mr Rollie Free. 150+ MPH, Land Speed World Record, Bonneville Salt Flats, 1948.
"Fastest Standard (open) bike in the world" at that time.
A VERY hopped up Black Lightning factory racing model.
Ken, littletommy, joeband and 5 others like this.
"Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death."
    - Hunter S. Thompson

“It’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow”.

"The less horsepower a motorcycle has, the more it can teach you.” - Ben Bostrom

And though a mountain may rise up and smack the livin' shit outta me,
and wad up my bike somethin' awful...
    Still, I rise!
    (With apologies to Maya Angelou)

Came here to post 1952 Vincent Black Lightning, though I'm partial to the Del McCoury version. Also, The Hondells: Go Little Honda. I know I have a few promotional motorcycle themed albums from 60s/70s but can't come up with them off the top of my head.
