Hey, my name is Greg Monty, and I just joined this forum. I live about 30 minutes north of Albany, NY. I grew up riding dirtbikes but haven't had one in over 20 years. I've got about 40k miles on street bikes. I've been riding quads since 2005. I'm currently in the process of purchasing a TW200, and have spent some time lurking on your site here gathering information to come to this decision (thanks, by the way).

    Here are my past rides, dirt, street, and quad, in the order I owned them: 1980 Yamaha GT80; 1978 Kawasaki KE175; 1992 Yamaha SecaII 600; 2001 Suzuki Katana 600; 1987 Kawasaki ZL1000 Eliminator; 2005 Kawasaki Bayou 250; 1997 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4 2-stroke; 1982 Yamaha 550 Maxim; 2006 Kawasaki Brute Force 750i.

Only one of those I still have is the Brute. I ride with a great group of guys known as Sick Puppies ATV Society.

My 3 main passions are riding, fishing, and kayaking.

Welcome to the mayhem Greg. Nice intro. When you sick puppies get together, do the women run and hide?

They don't have to, we leave them at home! A few of us started the Sick Puppies group when we got tired of the ATV club we were in. None of the officers in the club really ever rode the trails, and they needed a lot of attention and maintenance. We would bring issues up at meetings and ideas to maintain the trails and they kept getting voted down by the officers. The officers mostly hung out in the parking area at the club so they spent most of the club money on stuff for the parking area. Most of us eventually left the club, started Sick Puppies, and now we ride wherever we're invited, to open rides at clubs, etc. "It's all about the ride" is our motto. Now we're about 50 strong. A few guys have talked about getting a dual sport, I'll likely be the 1st to actually get one.

Welcome! Not too many folks in NY on the forum, but I'm located a few hours northwest of you. If you ever have occasion to find yourself nearby, let me know and I'll show you some of the local dirt.

The TW is a great bike, and given your quad background, I think you'll have a great time on it. It's more or less a quad missing a few wheels

Likewise, I grew up with a similar background: late 70s ATC70, late 80s Z50R, early 90s PW80, bunch of larger ATCs, seems there was a 4x4 Bayou 400(?) in there later, an early 90s Blaster, and then a bit later: 96 Suzuki GS500F, and the ones I still have: 82 ATC70, 92 Suzuki King Quad, 97 TW200, 85 Honda XL600R. Good times!

1997 TW, well loved, a bit modified.

I noticed I was in a sparsely TW populated area when I pinned my location on Google Maps. Hopefully if my fellow Sick Puppy pulls the trigger on a TW I'll be less lonely.
