Just an FYI guys. I have been wanting a helmet mounted camera for some time now just didn't want to spent $300.

I saw that Monoprice.com has a new action cam in a barrel like form factor and it has been sold out for some time now. They are selling it for $88.88 today when you use a $10 coupon code ACTION10.

At that price I finally picked one up and it seems like a hard deal to beat. They usually make great products.

    I just ordered one.

I have wanted a GoPro since they came out but can't afford one.

This maxed my cheap-guy meter but the discount helped it slide under the wire.

    I hope we like them

Mine arrived and it looks great.

Unfortunately it took quite a bit of hassle to get it working.

I tried to do the set up at work with no success as my computer only gave me a message that the connection was broken and to hook my camera back in.

Except it was still plugged in...

I gave it to our company IT kid and he really liked the camera too and is going to order one.

But he had no success either.

Searching online I found that others with similar problems found it worked with a different computer.

So I tried it on my laptop and it opened up the settings page.

I set the date and time and thought it was good to go and started shooting video.

    Attach to computer and nada.

    No video files.

So I went on the Monoprice site and hooked in to the live chat helpline.

Great service! The tech told me different things to try and then as we worked through various possible problems, it finally works.

Well, sort of. It records picture but no audio at all.

The tech suggested a free download video player that works better than Windows media so I will try that next.

I shot a half hour of working on the bike in the garage and I am very happy with the video quality.

Monoprice has a good reputation for returns, exchanges, and help so I am confident that it will work out with a little more effort.

Not plug & play for me but I think it is for almost all people.

I often seem to get the "one in a thousand" problems.

How come never the "one in a thousand" winnings?
