    This is a great article. I have done a fair bit of research on this subject and I endorse what is stated in this article as sound advice. This is how you break in a new motorcycle, seriously.

    I would most likely use those tips if I had a high end bike like the one in the photo.

    "Remember that the TW engine technology is over 20 years old, and it was out-of-date when the bike was first built. Break-in procedures for other bikes have changed with developments in metalurgy and better manufacturing technology. If I bought a recently designed water-cooled bike I'd do the variable load, variable throttle thing for 20 miles, change the oil, then do some maximum acceleration runs, then change the oil again. then I'd consider it broken in. "

    I figured once you can wheelie down the street the oils will circulate through the engine as you are good to go...on the TDUB that is.

    I've got about 400 miles on mine so far. I did a quick oil change at 100 or so just to see- but that wasn't necessary. I just ride normally without abuse and let the engine tell me what it wants to do without any over revs. Piece of cake.
