    88 TW200 Sydney, Australia

    Just thought I'd say Hi.

I am new to TW's & am looking forward to getting to know them a lot better, I have wanted one for a while & when a cheapy came up nearby I couldn't resist.

Being cheap & 26yo it has it's share of problems. Not least of which is a crack in the crankcase, but that's what makes it a challenge.

My to do list so far is:

Weld the crack in the crankcase.

Clean the enourmas amount of crap that is in the tank out & find a cap (original cap AWOL)

Since the crap in the tank has migrated into carb, clean that also.

Starter motor dead, need to fix that also.

Is there anything major with these bikes that I should check out? If you spray fuel in carb it will run, sounds OK from what I can tell so far & selects all gears.

Anyone got any suggestions for parts suppliers in Aus?

    Thanks in advance
    Max

Well, cleaned the tank & the Carb out today. Some JB weld on the crankcase for a test run, fresh fuel & oil. 2nd kick runner!! Super excited.

I have ordered a few parts I need, but am struggling to find a fuel tank cap. Anyone know of a good supplier?

    Cheers

There is a new, non OEM (but looks OEM) one listed on Ebay for $28.99 US. There is an international shipping calculator on the listing page also. I put in OZ and it looked like it would be less than six bucks. The page doesn't list fitment for a 1988, but I'm not sure there was any change from the model years that are listed as compatible. I am confident someone here will know the answer to that, and they can give you a definitive answer. Yamaha XS400 XT600 XZ550 Gas Fuel Cap w Keys 13 016 | eBay

    Hi AGman.

Thanks, I have posted some pics below. I'm sure it is probably comparable with a number of other bikes of that era, but not sure which ones. If you have one that might fit that would be great.

    Hi Borneo.

I had a trawl through ebay, I came up with a number of TW fuel caps but none stated my model. I'm unsure of interchangeability hopefully someone here can shed some light

    Cheers

I believe there are only two different caps for the tw tanks. Any '87-'00 cap should fit but please wait for verification on that.

    +1

Also, Caps from XT's fit from the same years. There are more models, but this is the only one I know for sure.
