Man, I saw that thread about what stupid things you've done to your bike. Well this is the thread where I did something stupid. I have been working on boats for 40 years, Im 52. I have a receiver hitch on my truck that has 3 different ball sizes on it, 1 7/8", 2", and 2 5/16". I always leave it on 2 5/16" because that is what my boat trailer uses. A few months back my neighbor asked me to move his boat. I changed it to the 2" ball and moved his boat, when I went to trailer my boat I never changed it back. What a jackass rookie mistake, I hit a big bump and the trailer came off the ball. Luckily I knew what happened and hit the gas instead of the brake, the safety chains pulled tight and I dragged it off to the shoulder without the trailer hitting the back of my truck. Now, how lucky is it that my floor jack and plenty of wood cutoffs are in the bed of my truck. Wow, I can fix this and move on unscathed, then.....Dammit, another of my neighbors sees me and pulls over to help when I was already done getting it back on the truck. I told him the story so I might as well tell you. Surprisingly, I think he told the story to more people than the internet could ever do.
