    Fire!

So there I was enjoying a quite evening alone while it was "girls night out" when "poof" an electrical trial fire bursts into flames across the room. Leaping into firefighter mode I was able to extinguish the flames before they spread to structure. Lucky I was only twenty feet away. Here is the culprit. By time all was under control my new kitten was web surfing for kitty pornThe extension cord and lamp plug were resting on small pile of cotton towels which were ignited by the sputtering molten plug terminal metal. This would have been sufficient fuel to have spread quickly had I not been in the same room and addressing situation within 5 seconds.
I post this as a reminder that with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas approaching their seasonal decorations have a greater potential for sparking accidental house fires. I certainly dodged the bullet on this one, and Mrs.Fred will be happy to have the scorched carpet replaced by tile or wood flooring eventually.

Lucky you Fred. You were home instead of out with the girls that night or off on a ride while she was gone. Lucky Lucky

Glad to hear you and your's are none the worse for wear. You gave me a good scare thinking Betty went up in flames due to the carb leak. Whew that was terrifying! Oh yeah and you really need to get a camera mount for your firemen's helmet too.

It won't be greed which destroys America. It will be envy.

Thanks guys. Plug and lamp were good quality UL products. I think a cat must have peed on connection. Another reason I prefer dogs.

that reminds me of the time I peed on the electric fence across the street when I was a kid, just to see what would happen...

Hi Fred: At least they'll pee on your bike, even when it's not on fire. Glad everything worked out. Life is funny and then it isn't.
