    Son's Graduation From BCT

My son graduated from Army BCT, Fort Jackson, South Carolina. I'm very proud of him and was surprised at the amount of growing up he did in ten weeks. Spent the week there and got to see my first Army base. A great week!!!

Congratulations to your son and to you for raising him properly. So many of life's lessons are learned in the armed forces. You should be very proud. Keep in touch with him even if/when he seams distant or distracted. A lot of outside influences in the military.

I'm very proud of him too. It's a great accomplishment, but more than that it is a great entry to service to his country. He, unlike many, is paying the debt I believe all men owe to this Country and our way of life. Fine looking young man. I anticipate great things will come his way. My compliments to you and your wife for raising an exemplary young man.

I am still a bit bitter about the whole "beret" thingy............ That was my very first introduction to liberal PC BS.

In the mid 1990's the Army started issuing berets to all soldiers in every unit. Prior to this date only elite units wore berets. When I first joined it was said you had to earn your beret, which I did, and I was very proud to wear it. By the time I ETS'd everybody had one and it lost some of it's exclusivity. My beret got me umm "noticed" on many different bases that we traveled to.
