Flirting with Disaster: The Amazing Story of Evel Knievel

    1st John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    John 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Being from that generation...I can say we lived with Evil, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Cincinnati "Big Red Machine" Reds back in the mid 70s....it was a great time to be alive and coming of age{mid 20 something}....you have to have been there, and if all you can do is read or visit the Internet to see what it was like, you will never know....

Hoot, we survived in better shape than Evil! What a great short biography, I learned many things thanks to LT.
Perhaps I lack artistic merit for I adore the Naked Gun movies and am usually up to watch a rerun.

Fred, you like the Naked Gun movies but have not mentioned my signature change? If you are not a fan of the movie that quote comes from I will be surprised. Very Naked Gun like.

It won't be greed which destroys America. It will be envy.

I was chuckling last few days appreciating the irony of your new politically incorrect signature but couldn't remember why it seemed vaguely familiar. Ya stumped me!

As I had noticed DTs Non PC Signature, I was thinking of changing mine{being about 3/4 Irish American Blood} to the old line from Blazing Saddles:

"Ok, We'll take the Blacks{sic} and Chinamen{sic}, but we don't want the Irish"

"Aw prairie shit, everyone" - Blazing Saddles. Good plan Hoot, if we can't poke fun at ourselves then we are taking life entirely too seriously.

"For children of the ’70s, there was no greater thrill than hearing that legendary stuntman Evel Knievel was preparing to make another jump."

That's true for me, he always seemed like a god to me growing up, with a place right beside Achilles, Poseiden, Zues, Ares and the rest.

Pretty good article, I wasn't aware of a lot of his history.

I didn't see in the story the whole story of how he got his name. I think it's kind of funny.

"As a troubled youth, he earned his stagename after occupying a jail cell next to a man named Knofel, leading the jailer to refer to the pair as Awful Knofel and Evil Knievel"
