    Well, the Jeff Cooper Scout isn't new. It's one of my favorite rifles. The composite stock is. But that isn't an improvement for me. I'm a wood and blued steel kind of guy.

    Yeah, it would have to be 308. Jeff Cooper came up with the idea of the Scout rifle. His specs required that caliber.

    Ruger did a great job with their version, but as I said, I prefer the wood stock. The walnut stock is perfect in my lights. Always look at the "Distributor Special" models when shopping Rugers.

    I like the looks of the laminated scout rifle but in my opinion it was to heavy for Coopers concept. However I think they nailed it with the synthetic stock setup. I still dont like the scout scope setup. I understand the concept but you lose so much field of view compared to a low powered scope. It would be hard to shoot a moving target in the woods with one or at least around here. I like the new lcr9. That would be a nice gun for the wife or for taking on rides.
