For a minute I thought Christmas had gone horribly wrong....

I ripped off the paper of my first present and saw this. Egads! I've been married for almost 30 years, and it isn't like I'm mystery man. I've liked the same things since I was a mere child. Hunting, Fishing, Motorcycles, Guns, Knives, Camping, and maybe just as important really good adventure books...like the old pulp adventures you hardly can find to read anymore. A lot of those guys wrote for Argosy, and some for Boy's Life and other "men's magazines". Guys like Robert E. Howard, Harold Lamb, Karl May, the list goes on. Great stuff, and missing sorely in today's modern "shades of grey" world.

And the next box...even more Harold Lamb. Fantastic! I'm so glad someone is finally resurrecting those classic old pulp adventure stories. You should have seen Miss Margaret sniggering. What kind of woman puts Swashbucklers, Desert Arabs, Mongols, and Cossacks in a Victoria box. Funny, funny, girl.

Oh, it gets better. Anyone remember the old sheath knife/axe combos from the '20's and 30's. Marbles made one. Yeah, they make a cheap Chinese thing now, not worth buying. But there is a place, Mooremaker, in Texas. Couple of old brothers that make working tools for working cowboys and ranchers. Check this (and their website) out. mooremaker.com, western, ranch, tools, cowboy, equipment

Solid too. Not too fancy, just the way I like it. Obviously made by hand. Just as obvious that the final fitting of the blades was done by skilled hands using a file. Perfect.

Don't ask me how the two knife/axe pictures got in the first post. Damb computers.

And finally, since it seems the good things are going away fast. Two for inventory. If I make it to an advanced age I will never have to go without. (Thanks for the idea, you know who you are)

Count your blessings, Borneo. The gifts are meaningless, but the thoughtfulness behind them is priceless.

Merry Christmas Qwerty. You are indeed right. It truly is the love behind the effort. And the warm feeling that I get knowing that my woman really, really, knows me.

I don't remember a day that the last words on my lips before going to sleep were not "Thank you My Lord for all the blessings you have laid upon me." Even on the days of great loss and pain, I have been smart enough to see how the balance has weighed.

And the best for last. A handmade gift from an old Yucca pack that was finally going to get thrown away. Years and years of good service, but beyond repair. Thoughtful.

I would say Borneo is blessed with a truly wonderful wife who knows her man. Playfull too with the Victoria's Secret box. Icing on the cake, lucky guy. Think she peeks at your posts or just has a women's intuition? Wishing you a very Merry Christmas Kurt.
