Smoked a Cigar with Nick and had a couple of Brews this afternoon....and see he has joined the TW Gang...."Montezuma" is Nick, so welcome him on board......

We did fire the TWs up this afternoon....but no break in the weather is in sight, so we didn't ride.....hopefully we can get some riding in before we head to Moab.....otherwise the first day or two out in Utah will be the beginning for his new 2015......

Actually "Montezuma" is the small town on the south side of Grand Lake....it's where I grew up during my High School years, and where Nick has lived for about 40 years since we finished up college....

This was my first thought. Montezuma Castle National Monument protects a set of well-preserved cliff dwellings near the town of Camp Verde, Arizona, United States. The dwellings were built and used by the Sinagua people, a pre-Columbian culture closely related to the Hohokam and other indigenous peoples of the southwestern United States,[4] between approximately 1100 and 1425 AD. The main structure comprises five stories and twenty rooms, and was built over the course of three centuries.[5]

Neither part of the monument's name is correct. When European-Americans first observed the ruins in the 1860s, by then long-abandoned, they named them for the famous Aztec emperor Montezuma in the mistaken belief that he had been connected to their construction (see also Montezuma mythology).[6] In fact, the dwelling was abandoned more than 40 years before Montezuma was born, and was not a "castle" in the traditional sense, but instead functioned more like a "prehistoric high rise apartment complex".[7]

Several Hopi clans and Yavapai communities trace their ancestries to early immigrants from the Montezuma Castle/Beaver Creek area. Clan members periodically return to these ancestral homes for religious ceremonies.

Here is a picture to illustrate Zdiver's excellent archeological explanation. These cliff dwellings are in surprisingly well preserved shape.

Anyways it shall be a pleasure meeting the real Montezuma Nick before too long. Welcome aboard and thank goodness he spells his nick-name the easy way:Moctezuma II (c. 1466 – 29 June 1520), also known by a number of variant spellings including Montezuma, Moteuczoma, Motecuhzoma and referred to in full by early Nahuatl texts as Motecuhzoma Xocoyotzin (Moctezuma the Young)
