Any landscape/lawn service guys out here?

I have a bunch of bare spots in my lawn from moles and other winter damage. Spent yesterday raking and re seeding these spots and covered the seeded areas with straw to help the seeds get a start and keep the birds from eating them. I will keep the straw damp for a couple weeks while the seeds take roots.

After the new grass gets going I need to know if I should just rake up the straw and cart it away or just mow over it and make it mulch?

Gently remove the straw with a light rake so as to not disturb the new growth. And don't be in a hurry to mow it, go around it for a while as it gets established, won't look as nice in the beginning, but it will later. Did you remember to match your seed to your existing lawn?

HA! over the years my lawn has been patched numerous times with numerous different grass varieties. Some grass, any grass is better than bare patches. It does look pretty cool and like a patch work mosaic with the different colors and types depending where you look. The spots right above the septic leach field are particularly colorful and stand out best around early august when the sun turns the rest brown.

I have renegade clumps of chives in my yard...and no real explanation. I usually clip some before I mow and throw them in omelettes.

You need the rodentator. This is how to eliminate moles and underground rodents.

The moles do their dirty work in the winter under 3 feet of snow. All summer long I have Owls, Hawks and Fox that feast on them.
