    And talking about Chili.

    Mel Like my cast iron bean pot my Dad left me (RIP) he was from the state of MAINE and would make all types of beans in it.. I think he got it in the 1960's.

    They cannot be beat for that kind of cooking. Good even heat all around. Looks good enough to eat!!

    But I was told by a friend in Texas, that chili does not have beans.

    I've canned 26 quarts and 4 pints of tomatoes in the last couple weeks. The last 14 had a handful of onions and green peppers in them, too.. Figured I'd save myself a little prep time when making chili.. The chili in the photos looks very much like mine.. Something you can use a fork to eat and sop up the last bit with a couple slabs of home made bread.. I hate chili soup..
