    Megalith Mania

I like enigmas, and many good ones center around ancient megaliths impressive for either their monstrous size like Baalkeck's 1500 ton blocks or the intricate interlocking stonework of pre-Inca South American cultures. I am just a fan of ancient stonework in all it's varieties. Ignore the "softening" theory and just enjoy the variety of enduring human expression rendered often inexplicably in stone.

People all over the world like to play with big rocks. I know that most of those were places to put dead people but I think they would make great dwelling places safe from people eating predators.

I love ancient structures and megaliths. so amazing how that stuff was built and survived the test of time, and in some cases, people.

Modern man has nothing on the folks that did these things. I am sure that all the things we put on computers will not be here in 4000yrs.

This is a commonly sited example from Cusco of enduring earthquake resistant interlocking stonework. I doubt we could readily replicate the pre-inca wall today.

Let me know if you can figure any of this out. I have had a little experience with stone and these examples, as well as their widespread existence, are impressive and enigmatic.
