What a rush that would be. Sign me up.

Should the flight be unsuccessful I'd be the first human petroglyph.

    Win/Win.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Powdercoated '87 frame, extended swingarm, YZ fork legs, ATV tire, 14/55, XT350 tank, spliced quick-release seat, disc brake conversion, beeg headlight, beeger rack, Lizrdcooler, Lizrdventz and bunch of other stuff all covered in invisible ink.

    Gentlemen,

The Grand Canyon use to be a pilots playground. When I started flying in the 1970's there were no restrictions on flying through the canyon all the way down to the Colorado River at the bottom. After getting my helicopter rating in the early 1980's I would chase the wild burros around and land down by the water. In an aerobatic plane it was an exhilarating obstacle course. Now you can't fly down into it (legally) at all and can only fly over it on two designated paths way above the rim. They say the noise spoils the solitude of the canyon. And they have shot or removed all of the wild burros. They say they don't belong there. I guess pilots don't belong there either.

Occasionally, when returning to Scottsdale from the north I still get the urge to dive down in there. I will not publicly admit whether or not I act on that desire. :-)

Chip: It seems this is the way the world (United States of America...) is going these days, unfortunately. Everyone wants to close down and restrict everything. Freedom is diminishing. Same deal with motorcycles. Prime off road riding areas are being closed all over the place, especially in CA. It is rather unfortunate.

I read a while back that he is working on finding engines and a harness that will allow him to take off from the ground instead of being dropped from another aircraft.

He's reaching for the ultimate "Jet Pack". I hope he figures it out, or maybe another younger guy building on his progress.

Hey! It's the 21st century! Where's my flying car?!?
