I could see doing this.....but then there is the saying about many old pilots, many bold pilots, but few old bold pilots .
I know the pilot, Steve Henry from a fly in near Yearinton / Black Rock Desert. He is quite the stick. I think he was training the Alaska competition in STOL.
Another great backcountry pilot is Pops Dory. Check out a video he did. Quite a feat over 10,000 feet in a Cub.
Amazing aircraft handling skill.... that lad knows his gear.
That thing could land on a tarpaulin . And take off from a driveway.
....and to think of all the money spent on helicopter charters when a simple fixed wing SuperCub could have gotten in and out.
"Real men fly tail-draggers" I converted all my RC airplanes to tail-dragger back in the day when I used to fly them.
