How about something like this with the TW's off road tires on it?

The Yamaha MT-03 is an excellent bike. One of the guys on another forum has one and loves it (he lives in Japan).

The only problem I see with making a street bike into a dual sport is the suspension, and perhaps the front wheel diameter.

And the 660cc Yamaha engine has been around for quite a while, and is well proven.

Well, there is the XT 660 Tenere...not really my cup of tea though personally, way too heavy IMO.

    Nice shock access though!

EDIT: Kinda reminds me of how I had my old Honda Sabre set up...naked, with 80/20s.

Poor man's F650GS. I'd keep the mag wheels since there are a plethora of knobbies coming available for the motards. Too bad we can't get them here--it would make a better highway bike than a TW and a better dirt road bike than a KLR. The DR, XR, and XL will still eat it up in the technical stuff. In other words, just about perfect for the riding I do.
