    Picked up a $200 2001 TR125L a couple weekends ago. It runs, has MOST of its parts...but the poor little thing was neglected and needed a new home.



    I'm amazed at the "repairs" that some people will perform. Hmm let's see...pilot jet plugged? Just push-start it in 3rd and bump up the idle! Floats need adjusting? Just carry some vice grips and clamp the fuel hose so it won't leak. Petcock leaking a little bit? Eh...no big deal, gas evaporates quickly. Plastic scratched up? Just paint it with some sparkly black Krylon! Seat cover ripped? Put some plastic garbage bags around it and then wrap that in some kind of Realtree seat cover-looking-thing.



    So after a few days of repairs and $60 it's in a LOT better shape. Still waiting for the front brake master cylinder rebuild kit to arrive at the shop...is brake fluid supposed to look like gel? :-O I wonder why the piston seals ripped? When all is said and done...still a decent bike to let the kiddos beat around on and not worry about them dropping it. I can keep the training wheels on my boy's TTR90E a little longer now. :-D



    Then the wheels in my mind start spinning...BBR Frame? Supermoto mods? The parts guy said that they're looking to start a supermoto "day" at the local cart track. Someone stop me now before it's too late! bwaahahahaaa

    It is indeed truly amazing what some people will put up with for lack of knowledge.



    The good news is that sometimes we can buy their bikes for 10 cents on the dollar when they finally throw in the towel. With a little luck they haven't destroyed anything major and we can put them right and ride 'em for years.



    Most of my stuff came to me that way.



    I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

    Powdercoated '87 frame, extended swingarm, YZ fork legs, ATV tire, 14/55, XT350 tank, spliced quick-release seat, disc brake conversion, beeg headlight, beeger rack, Lizrdcooler, Lizrdventz and bunch of other stuff all covered in invisible ink.

    I know a guy who does this type of "repair" to his bikes. That's if he even bothers trying to fix them at all. Not mentioning any names lol! Yea 300 bucks for a 125 four stroke seems pretty good, IF...[insert major problems that could result from owner-negligence].

    UPDATE:



    Bike is all back together, and everything is working fine! Starts first or second kick. Still not all that pretty to look at but it'll do for a beater bike for the kiddos! Heck, it'll do for a beater bike to throw in the back of the truck anytime I'm kicking around the mountains.



    On a side note...co-worker of mine was at our local "waste transfer station" and saw a fairly new COMPLETE Yamaha "200 dirtbike" (his words--I'm guessing a 225) in the metal recycle dumpster, unfortunately buried deep! He said it looked in great shape, except for the motor that appeared to have been torn apart and the owner most likely gave up on rebuilding it. Always amazing what people in our community throw away! Once the bin gets full everything gets kind of smashed up, so no chance of saving the poor little thing. Imagine how much the parts could fetch on ebay!
