Sad thing is, a hunter may have killed him just a couple days ago.

It is believed that he was killed by a bow hunter several days ago. Really a cool video but the emotion most prevalent in me while watching was sympathy. The rabid response to his death is actually frightening. Too many people in this world care more about an injured bear as they step over their fellow homeless human beings. This world is a friggin mess!

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

As long as it was a legal kill, .... well most people that buy store bought meat and think this is bad, really have no freaking clue.

Tomorrow is a new day, it's never too late to start.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

If the hunter knew that it was Pedals and knew that pedals was very nearly harmless, then it was a disgusting foul act. If he didn't then it was just bear that was killed by a hunter.

This is a very well framed argument. Unless, the hunter had very small children that liked to play outside in the same neighborhood that the injured bear frequented. We can assign the animal a name and attribute human qualities to it but it is still the exact same animal that you correctly pointed out to another member here just a few days ago as being the most dangerous bear in north America. Maybe the hunter never lost sight of that?

Hunting from the perspective of the state is not about taking out dangerous animals so much as population control of said animals due to the loss of natural mechanisms -- that's why they have game management units and issue a certain # of tags.

I see two things with this event:
    1) (against its killing) If the hunter specifically went after this bear, I'd wonder why. He wasn't a trophy specimen aside from the novelty of some sort of Ripley's Believe it or not taxidermy.
    2) (for its killing) The bear, despite being injured and having overcome that, was becoming used to humans. He was dangerous due to this. Not because he could easily chase someone down, but because he seems to have lost his fear of humans.

Growing up in Florida, one of of the big problems was people who thought it was fun or cute to feed gators. Said gator then equated humans with food. When they then ate fluffy the feeder's surrogate child-dog, it was a tragedy to them. Worse was when said gator attacked a human because humans = food.

Dept of wildlife/fish/game will ALWAYS engage in population control of animals. That's their job. So even if they ban bear hunts in New Jersey, guess what? Bears will still be killed in New Jersey. It will be done by professional hunters. We have the same thing in Colorado at Rocky Mountain National Park. The elk population is huge there. Hunting is not allowed. Guess who goes in at night, GETS PAID, and is gone before all the liberal morons go to the park to take pictures of the elk? Professional hunters and some "qualified volunteers". https://www.nps.gov/romo/learn/manag...fact_sheet.htm

Know why they're able to take pictures with the elk? Because the elk haven't been starved to death by overpopulation in the park. Because hunters, not the average joe, kills them per the # designated by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. They even will designate specific elk to be taken (ornery herd bulls past their prime who will otherwise close off the gene pool diversity if left alive, injured/sick elk, etc.)

So the raison d'ętre for banning bear hunts in NJ will never be realized, if the state agencies do their job. Bears will continue to be killed. It will just be by a .gov agent paid a lot of money to do so, rather than someone who pays a lot of money to do so.

Well, some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you.
