    Pearl Harbor @ 75

A Date Which Will Live in Infamy.
last photo caption: American and Japanese veterans pour bourbon whiskey into the hallowed waters of Pearl Harbor as a way to observe and celebrate the continued peace and reconciliation between the two nations during a Blackened Canteen ceremony as part of the Pearl Harbor Day 74th Commemoration Anniversary Dec. 6, 2015, at the USS Arizona Memorial, Hawaii. as we gather and enjoy our japanese bikes on this forum, unthinkable 75 yrs ago today, slandering and locking up 120,000 american citizens, seemingly thinkable again today.
as those that remember first hand fade away, let the rest of us never forget the lessons from then and today.

i asked my grandfather, knowing he had joined the navy in 1937, and whose first ship was the uss california:
"hey gramps, where were you on dec 7th?"
"drunk off my ass wandering time square."
he was in nyc on new ship detail, waiting for the new battleship BB-55 the USS North Carolina.
"some new york debutantes had thrown a party for us in a fancy ball room."
"wasn't much party for awhile after that one."
"double time getting that ship ready."

the USS North Carolina was the first new battlewagon in the US fleet since WWI and the first new ship into pearl in june of 1942. he was in the pacific for the rest of his 21 yr naval career, including BB-55 being torpedoed in sept 1942. a chain of events which that sent him to san francisco where he met a fine lady... and i was born 27 yrs later.

thank you to my grandfather and all the vets that have served and continue to serve and protect our country.

I visited Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial in the early 2000's. It was very somber moment.
Hidden Content A ride in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact I'm dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant?

My parents were married on Saturday, December 6th, 1941. My father enlisted in the Marines before the end of the year.
He served as a weapons instructor, and then in the Pacific... the islands, the Phillipines, and in China.

BRAVO! I sailed cargo ships with fellow engineers who were WWII vets. The scars of Pearl Harbor still ran deep.

Or Elks Lodge raised enough funds to send four WW2 vets there for the 75TH. I was in charge of the motorcycle escort that took them to the airport.

The last time I was at the Arizona Memorial was in 1962. Seems like a lifetime ago...
    1st John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    John 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

My grandfather Eddie B. Daugherty was a chief boatsun mate on the destroyer Helm DD-388 at Pearl Harbor. Eddie B was aka "Redi Red" a wiry indominable red headed Irish man from Texas. The Helm was underway when the attack happened and was able to steam out to sea. One of the few boats able do so. They were bombed on both sides and strafed but not damaged too much. They shot at and missed an enemy two man mini sub one of whose crew died and one was captured as the first Japanese prisoner of war. This same ship was involved in huge navel battles. Leyte gulf in the Philippines, Battle of the Corral Sea, Iwo jima, Guadacanal, and on. Read about it here:

We were best fishing buddies. He never talked much about the war. One thing he did say one time was being on battle stations for weeks at a time in the Coral Sea wearing double life jackets because they expected to be sunk at any time. He definitely had PTSD which no one knew about or how to deal with it. They called it something else "shell shock". The war cost him his marrige with my grandmother, but he got better, recovered and was remarried to a wonderful woman and lived to be 86.

The United States has pretty much been in a continuous state of war since the beginning of the 20th century. During that time we have enjoyed a relative state of domestic peace not really true peace. Now, relative peace is being threatened by terrorist acts here at home. Also during that time frame mankind now has the power to destroy all human life on this planet with atomic weapons. We are on the brink of global eviromental, political and religious disaster. This calls to mind this bible verse. Jeremiah 10:23 "I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step." Isn't it time for God to step in at Armageddon and start ruling mankind through his kingdom arrangement with his son Jesus as king? Dan 2:44, Ps 37:11, 29, Revelation 5: 9 and 10.

Millions now living are living in harmony with the fullfillment of this bible prophecy that is quoted in front of the United Nations building in NY. Isaiah 2: 2-4 * 2*In the final part of the days, The mountain of the house of Jehovah Will become firmly established above the top of the mountains, And it will be raised up above the hills, And to it all the nations will stream. 3*And many peoples will go and say:“Come, let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, To the house of the God of Jacob. He will instruct us And we will walk in his paths.” For law will go out of Zion, And the word of Jehovah out of Jerusalem. 4*He will render judgment among the nations And set matters straight respecting many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares And their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, Nor will they learn war anymore.

The question is do you want to join them?
