    Bonneville Speed Week

Anybody gone to speed week at Boniville(sp) Salt flats? Always wanted to go so this year I'm going to try to make it August 12-18. Saw a show on the tube the other night about the worlds fastest motorcycle and it got me thinking about it.

No, but I have ridden my WR250r on the flats in July.
Bike looked like it was covered in icing sugar. First stop after the ride was a car wash.
Dam hot riding out there, but it is a ride everyone should do.
The flats don't totally dry out until August, so there can be soft spots and as it was not totally dry, my speeds were not as fast as on pavement.

That sounds interesting and it's one of my bucket list items. Are those the only dates or is that specific to motorcycles only (not cars)? I thought it happened a few times a year?

Things have to dry out for the bikes first.Bonneville3.jpg
Then they have various classes like Unlimited Stagecoaches Larry_Chen_Bonneville_temple_of_speed-11.jpg
And always a crowd pleaser, the Nude Scooter World Record attempt: 4771339545_fc7157112d_b.jpg
I think the bikes come after all the various Bar Stool displacement classes.1G9P0262-mb-tz-gl-c-800pix-wm.jpg
And of course vantastic accommodations are available for the adventurous.d66e3fc1d96e54af6ce58fa2cd6a0330.jpg

I've been going since '99. TW is a perfect pit bike. The starting line is about 4 miles from where we pit. Our car has set a few records in different classes.

There's a lot of bikes that run during Speed Week, which is my favorite time to go, but the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials is the end of August. The innovative grass roots ways cars & bikes are built I find very interesting.

Tirebiter, Can you PM me with any info that would help me find my way, such as camping, parking, etc, etc,. I gather you can't camp on the flats but down the road by the bend? They close the flats at 5pm correct? Any links with info?

Just noticed you got a Studeabaker, love to have a hawk, very cool cars, some were so ugly there cool....

Don't let Gerry see the picture of the neked scooter rider. Might give him more ideas!
