oney two weeks until the new year begins.

It will happen at sun down on the 21st of Dec. I do not know why the world does not recognize this fact.
And fact it is and has been since the earth began to orbit the sun in a tilted axis.
It is the time when the day ends with the shortest daylight hours of the year, and begins to have longer days following.
I suppose it is because of some arcane idea from the Vatican or something that we don't count this as the beginning of the new year.
To me it only makeses sense that this day representsts the end of one year and the beginning of anotherer.
I like to refer to it as hump day, as in over the hump and days begin to get longer. And no close minded religion or politician can prove it otherwise.
This is of course only true for those of us in the northern hemisphere. Those who live upside down don't have this particular thing happen until six months later.

That explains why, for my entire life, I've felt 10 days behind.

At midnight on the 20th, I'm going to scream "Happy New Year!" and shoot some guns - just like my neighbors do.

It was long before there was a Vatican.
