    Exercise In The Off Season

When it is riding season, I work out rarely as I am too busy on the motorbikes, bicycles, canoes and kayaks along with hiking.

But in the off season I try to work out. The reason I am posting this is 2 fold.

1st - Moab is coming up and if you have not been doing any exercise, you will be sore and stiff and there is way too much too see in Moab to feel that way.

2nd - I bought a Total Gym from Costco 3 years ago and have been using it 3 times a week in the off season. It has been the best fitness equipment purchase I have made, besides the formentioned toys.
I see Costco carries 2 versions of the total Gym in both Canada and the USA. The one I bought is not listed any more, but is similar to the 1600. If you are looking for something that is easy to use and easy on your joints, (I screwed up my left shoulder mountain biking and found many shoulder exercises difficult, but have gotten a fair bit of motion back using the total gym) I strongly recommend this product (Besides it was designed for physiotherapy). If you are interested, buy the one that will support your weight - you do not need al the gimmick that come with the higher priced ones.

Mine has 12 level of difficulty. I started on level 4 and I am now at level 6 and do not know if I really want to go any higher. I use level 12 for squats and pull-ups.

I have no affliction to this product, but I have found I do use it. (BTW - Chuck Noris' 79th birthday is this weekend and he is still using this product to stay lean)

There are also free exercise videos totalgymdirect all you need to do is sign up for the free part.

I'm heading to the gym this afternoon. It sure is hard to stay fit after turning 60 but I'm trying.......More or less.

I can always find a place to hike/ski and be outdoors year round in the woods....if you can walk you can snowshoe and you are bound to see something interesting …..

But of course I live in the Cascade Mountains at about 3500' and I am retired...... so I have the time and the place to do it....
