    Weekend trailer project......

    After searching several days for a decent,lightweight,simple single-rail trailer, unsuccessfully,I decided to build my own.....with the addition of nitrogen lift struts to make loading/unloading easier. Torsion axles w/ 'temporary' tires work really well in this application,keeping the finished trailer weight to 170lbs. The struts are positioned to work properly with bikes ranging from 180lbs to 230lbs.

    that is the best looking trailer that i have seen in a LONG TIME you should be selling these trailers excellent job

    Thanks for compliments,fellas. I momentarily considered building a few 'extras',Scutler,because the trailer isn't expensive to produce (approx. $600),but,since I've "released' photos,I'm sure that our yellow brethren in the East will soon begin production(lol)....another opportunity lost. If anyone else wants to build one,I'll be glad to share the details(the ramp's inside width is a full 6",so TW tires will fit.).

    Interesting use of a space saver spare! If I recall those type of spares are rated for a maximum speed of 50MPH? I imagine the speed rating is probably less critical when you only have a hundred pounds or so on it.

    Does it track well?

    Nice job. It looks great, and looks like it would be very handy, too.
    My handle is B-dub, I ride a T-dub, and drive a V-dub.

    Outstanding design! Beautiful welds too.

    I also like the redundant tie downs. In fact, I'd consider another strap around the rear wheel and trailer to hold the back of the bike down if you encounter extreme terrain. I've had straps come loose, but never lost a bike yet. Still, it's an awful virtual image.

    Thanks again,guys. It does track/tow great. My first test was to load it with 4 80lb. bags of concrete mix,then tow it at speed thru a somewhat rough field...followed by putting the bike (shown) on for a road test(50-80+mph).
    The field test help relax the torsion arms,although I believe that their 500lb. rating(for the pair) is very conservative. Despite the wheels being only 49" apart,the trailer can be slid on paving,rather than tipping as one might expect....I chose the 'temp tires' for that reason-minimal road contact. And,they should last quite some time,given the light GVW of,say 400-450lbs.I've noticed a few of the local dummies that have used the same tire for an economical 'slam' to their 'rides'.......lol. I'd like to add baby moons,but the wheels have no provision for that.....hubcap 'clips' are avaible to add,but I don't see a precise way to mount them.....

    How about title and registration? Can you title homemade trailers in Indiana? In Illinois, where I live, they've quit titling homemades.

    Very nice! How about making a lightweight one for the TW?

    Something that could carry say 150 lbs. or so. Clamp-on hookup.
