I lost an awesome B.I.L. to a lightning strike, resulting in a somewhat heightened awareness. Still for some reason it isn't something I tend to sweat much over when I'm on a motorsickle. Apparently this guy walked away with only a mild case of Van Gogh ear:

Yes. Just one of those things. Died doing what he loved and all those platitudes which we the living view as a "good" death. But my butt sure puckers a lot more when I'm "out in it" since.
I'm sure it happens to bikers more often than I'm aware of. This just happens to be the first time I've seen one reported.
