On the TV show "Pawn Stars" last night they had a '60's trail bike "Trail Breaker" looked US made, had TWO WHEEL DRIVE, big tires, looked something like a TW200. Both wheels driven! Extra gas was stored in a gas tank built into the center of the front wheel!
They still make them: http://www.rokon.com/products/trailbrkr.htm
I bet the TW would give it a good run for the money, what do you think?
And you can get a plow or a cultivator or a lawnmower for them, plus a water pump, a generator and more!!
I would think a TW would do 85% of what it could do?
A member on this board has a Rokon. He posted about it a few months ago on the old site. It's a really neat bike, and looks like it can get to places even a Quad wouldn't be able to get to.
2009 Yamaha TW200
1996 Yamaha Virago 1100
Many years ago a friend of mine had one. He kept the hubs empty so he could float it across deep water.Several times when we came across a deep water crossing he would just step off and wade beside the bike holding it upright. When he got to the other side he would smile and say " Lets see you do that with your SL-125"
Arctic Cat built one too. The Cat was a little smaller. About '65.
This was at one of our meets.
We had a Big wheel ride with us at one meet and it had to be pushed up several places because it just spun the rear wheel.
I had a Rokon about 10 years ago. It was a neat bike but too slow to actually trail ride and very buzzy when you got up to speed. I looked into a 2 wheel drive Yamaha they where testing a few years back but it was about $7000 extra. I settled for the TW200. I think I made a good choice.
