    Biking in South Africa

Biking is alive and well in South Africa!

I just want to post some photos to show you guys over there in the USA and the rest of the world what kind of bikes we are using over here in South Africa. I snapped these photos during this past Thursday and Friday at the parking lot of my workplace which is a restaurant that is situated in a small shopping centre opposite a gas station close by the city centre of Pretoria, Gauteng.

I'm inviting Mud Dog and Mr.Paynter and tw200southafrica to add photos to this thread.

We have a big variety of bikes in this country, I did a quick survey and it looks to me that BMW is definitely the Number 1 selling brand at the moment. We have dedicated Ducati, KTM, Aprilla and Harley followers and then also a significant percentage of Japanese bikes. The T-Dub on the photo is mine of course.

You bet, Jonnway and Big Boy are popular in this country, especially in the cities with school kids and students because of the cheap price!

The Japanese-made scooters are loosing out at the moment.

I know Jonway is Chinese but I don't know where Big Boy comes from.

I snapped this Big Boy earlier today.03052014042.jpg

Im not from there and havent been there. But would any of you entertain the idea of touring the continent? South to north, kinda opposite of the long way down? That would be an epic journey especially if it was with someone that was actually from there. (hint hint........Im willing and able )

I recommend that you come down to South Africa and use this country as a base. There are enough things to do and places to see to keep you busy for at least 3 months. After that you can tour the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique and then just return to S.A. every time you run out of time and need to return to the USA.

If I'm going to have the time I want to go and tour Zimbabwe at the end of this year, very beautiful country, roads are in a good condition, with camp sites, B&B, game lodges and hotels everywhere you go but at the moment I have a lot of irons in the fire and I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to.
